With our support from the tourism industry, and together with conservation partners, we help develop capacity for Community Game Guards (CGG’s) and Rangers to protect wildlife and other natural resources. They are the “boots on the ground”, and play a crucial role in patrolling, monitoring, anti-poaching, and law enforcement. They are also of vital importance when it comes to informing their communities and assisting in conflict mitigation. Training focuses on iconic wildlife species including lions and elephants, that are important for photographic tourism, but also cause significant problems for rural livelihoods. CGG’s and Rangers learn about animal behaviour and how to interpret it, as well as on how to protect and their communities during encounters with these animals.
